And to Bob Wright
We started our blog last year for a variety of reasons, but a leading one was to create a forum to highlight social innovation ideas and innovators making a difference in our community.
Jayda Batchelder is an example. Her idea was to help middle school students overcome unseen obstacles and make sound decisions affecting their education and futures. That idea became Education Opens Doors; and she is now the CEO of the nonprofit organization. It provides an education that goes beyond the classroom, filling in the gaps to help explain “the bigger why” to these students, who are at a vulnerable age. While knowledge about the reasons to attend college and how to apply may be commonplace in many homes, it often is lacking in the homes of people of color or those who struggle financially. Education Opens Doors provides this college readiness and other services.
Recently Shoutout DFW profiled Jayda and her work on its website. In it, she gave a shoutout to Bob Wright, namesake partner of Wright Connatser, for his mentorship and guidance. Scroll down to the end of the article to see it.
We’re proud of Bob and had to share Jayda’s recognition of him, as well as spotlight the groundbreaking work she is doing to create equity in education.
